This experimental farming is intended to create an international garden with food from all over the world, by growing crops in similiar climates or microclimates with the intent to create year round seasonal crops that sustain a nutrient rich diet. We offer opportunities for people to learn by doing. The Emile Community Farm in the 5th Ward and the Live Oak Outpost in the 3rd Ward are community farms where volunteers are paid in crops from the garden.

We invite communities to learn stewardship of the land by actively participating in the development of a local food economy We participate in area farmers markets and coops and encourage the development of other farm to market enterprises.

We also offer opportunities for schools, churches, and other businesses organizations to work on the farm during the week and weekends. Contact Marcella at 713 444 0067.

Every Saturday, weather permitting, we have work events/open houses at the Emile location. Presently we are working on the Urban Farm Belt- 5th Ward District, in collaboration with Urban Harvest, Recipe for Success, City of Houston- Urban Garden Initative, Central City Coop , YAYA's Raw Foods, and Vegetables Matters, along with others to create a city wide local agriculture on vacant lots.

Donations to Last Organic Outpost go towards purchasing soil, sand, rice hulls, soil amendments, establishing a seed bank, equipment maintenance, irrigation supplies and water.

We invite everyone to participate in the big effort to create urban farming throught the Greater Houston Area.
